Visit Barns & Farms On The Cascade Loop

Nothing delivers a sense of place like spending a little time visiting the farms that produce the local foods and products that each of our region's are known for. And by farms we certainly include close-to-the-dirt food growing acreage, but we also mean flower bulbs, and orchards producing our state's famous apples, pears, cherries, apricots, berries and peaches. This certainly includes heritage barns (even if they are no longer part of an active farm operation), and could also mean vineyards--acres of estate-grown varietals that make up some of our country's most prestigious labels. And we also mean seafood. Penn Cove mussels, for example, are grown in beds and harvested domestically on the Cascade Loop.

Heritage barns can also be found along the Cascade Loop, with a high concentration to be found in the Skagit Valley. Grab your camera/smartphone and head out when the light is good. These shots are super unique!
